The Chadron Community Hospital, built in 1928 with additions in 1977 and 1987, is licensed for 42 beds and 6 bassinets. Facilities include a three-bed cardiac unit, operating room, delivery room, laboratory, X-ray, physical therapy, 24-hour emergency room, and respiratory therapy. Home health care, swing bed services, and hospice care are provided. A mobile C.T. scanner comes from Rapid City weekly. Chadron Community Hospital has begun construction on a new $14 million facility that will be co-located with Chadron Medical Clinic.

Seven physicians, three physicians’ assistants, and one nurse practitioner staff the Chadron Medical Clinic.

There are 40 volunteer Emergency Medical Technicians who respond to calls with three basic life support ambulances owned by the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department.

The “Family Resource Center” in Crawford houses Legend Buttes Health Services, (a full service clinic), Western Community Health Resources, Awakenings Mental Health Counseling, Head Start, Little Lamb Day Care, and a free community fitness room. It is also the site for community meetings and support groups.

Legend Buttes Health Services (LBHS), located at 11 Paddock Street, is a full service clinic open daily, staffed by a physician or physician’s assistant. Four physicians and three physician’s assistants rotate through the schedule. Other personnel includes one nurse practitioner and two LPNs. Lab, x-ray, and EKG’s are available on site. Free immunizations are provided daily by appointment. LBHS is a department of Chadron Community Hospital and Health services (CCHHS) located in Chadron. LBHS’ hours are Monday-Friday 9 a.m.–5 p.m.
