Commercial Air Service

Great Lakes Aviation, (308) 432-5717 is the local commercial air service provider to the Chadron Airport (CDR) with 2 flights daily (Monday-Friday) and 1 flight daily on Saturday and Sunday to and from Denver International Airport.

One hundred ten miles to the north of Chadron, the Rapid City Regional airport (RAP), 4550 Terminal Road, Suite 102, is home to four commercial airlines, which are Allegiant, Delta, Northwest, and United Express with service to Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Minneapolis, and Denver and Chicago. Chadron Airport

The Chadron Municipal Airport, (308) 432-0538, located 3 minutes west of the city, is utilized by both commercial and private aircraft. Passenger, airfreight, and air express services are provided; and direct service is available to Alliance, Nebraska, as well as to Denver, Colorado.

Facilities at the Chadron Municipal Airport include two lighted hard-surfaced runways (6,000 feet and 4,400 feet in length), lighted field, rotating beacon, hangers, tie downs, VOR, DME and NDB navigation, ILS approach, GPS approach, fuel, storage, aircraft maintenance, lighted wind cone, VASI on runways 20 and 02, ISL on runway 02, and PAPI on runways 29 and 11. The elevation at the airport is 3,297 feet, the latitude is N42 degrees 50. 25', and the longitude is W130 degrees 05’73'. The nearest major airport is at Rapid City, South Dakota, 110 miles north of Chadron.

Highways

U.S. Highways 385 (north-south) and 20 (east-west) intersect at Chadron. Interstate 90 (east-west) is 110 miles north at Rapid City; I-25 (north-south) is 123 miles west at Orin, Wyoming; and I-80 (east-west) is 130 miles south at Sidney, Nebraska.

Two highways, U.S. Highway 20 and State By-Way 71-2, also intersect at Crawford. The proposed Heartland Expressway will follow the U.S. 385/79 corridor to connect Interstate 80 in Nebraska to Interstate 90 in South Dakota.

The Denver Coach Line, (800) 658-3125 has a daily route between Chadron and Denver. K & S Express, (308) 432-2725 has a bus available upon demand on Tuesdays and Thursdays between Chadron and Norfolk.
