Minutes
Executive Meeting
Nebraska Northwest Development Corporation
April 23, 2008

 NNDC Office

   7:00 a.m.

Present:  Eric Fuller, Jim Dickey, Kristie Dexter, Roy Fitzgibbon, Brenda Johnson, Jodene Penny
Absent:   Emily Klein

Jim called the meeting to order at 7:01 a.m.

The minutes were approved by consensus.

After reviewing the financial information, Eric moved to approve the March financials. Roy seconded, motion carried.

Options to help a struggling business were discussed. It was decided that he could pay $175 to NNDC for his loan payment for 4 months and within 30 days he needed to go to Nebraska Business Development Center to update his business plan. After the 4 month period, if he is able to make the $175 payment, then either he will have found a way to make his original payment or we can possibly refinance the balance.

There is a possibility that Greta Kickland will be resigning because she accepted a job with Crow Butte Resources. Brenda will contact Emily to have her committee plan for a possible replacement to suggest to the Board. An appointment will be made with Crow Butte Resources for some of the executive committee to talk with Jim Stokey.

Brenda has been asked to run for Crawford City Council. She told the executive board she would not do it if they felt it was not in NNDC’s best interest. After discussion, it was determined it is not a conflict of interest and it is her personal life; therefore, they said there was no reason for her not to run and they would support her decision. They also said to put it on May’s agenda for the full board meeting.

Brenda, Eric and others met to discuss Stockade Road. To pave through Lot 4 it would cost NNDC roughly $70,000.

The Community Survey is ready to go. It was decided to do the survey the month of June and do the student survey this fall. This gives time to promote the survey.

The Safety Committee will decide how to proceed with the safety issues.

Brenda attended the Heartland Economic Development Course in Blue Springs, Missouri last week. This is the first step in becoming a Certified Economic Developer.

Brenda has met with all the area bankers regarding our loan programs except for the Harrison bank and the person she needs to meet with has been unavailable.

Brenda took Tim Erickson (CareerLink) to Crow Butte Resources. They are interested in a partnership. Brenda will e-mail the full board the link to Scottsbluff CareerLink as well as Workforce Development so they can compare the two.

Jim moved to adjourn. Meeting adjourned at 8:15 a.m.
